Canopy Beds

 Canopy Beds

Canopy beds are not just for royalties or rich people. You can have a canopy bed in your bedroom and you don't even have to spend a fortune. Instead of purchasing expensive canopy beds, you can put your imagination to use and create your own according to your taste and budget.

If you don't have a poster bed and you want to have a canopy bed, you can use shower curtains and hang them on the ceiling. You can place one just above the bed, one at the center, and another one above the foot of the bed. It should be perpendicular to the bed and parallel to each other. To add the finishing touches, you can use a long fabric that would cascade from the head to the foot of the bed. This will make a simple yet elegant bed canopy. If you want a full canopy with a modern design, instead of three rods, you can use four rods and place them above each side of the bed. You can use decorative hooks similar to the ones used for shower curtains to keep the fabrics from falling out.

You can also use this method to create a traditional full canopy. Instead of using shower rods, you can use wood strips to frame the shape of the bed. To give it a more professional look, use heavy curtains on the outside and sheer fabric on the inside. Use a valance around the bed to add to the appeal. Since you are using more than one fabric, you have to make sure that they are securely fastened to the wooden strips to keep them from falling. Add a trim to give it an extra pizzazz and use accessories such as tie backs, rings, or clips.

One of the best things about making your own bed canopies is that they can easily be removed when you are remodeling and no longer want a canopy.

Futon Bunk Beds

 Futon Bunk Beds

When bunk beds emerged they were very simply two smaller beds on top of each other primarily designed for small children. Since then the whole industry has changed, and although you can of course find your traditional two tier bunk beds a new generation has also emerged.

These include the incredibly useful futon bunk beds, which have a regular top bunk and a futon couch for the bottom section. This may not seem useful and it may even seem self defeating, but by the end of this article you'll see why they're very useful.

For most children nowadays a bunk-bed isn't there to save space, but more for friend's sleepovers or even just as a Christmas gift for the kids. Unfortunately having a while bottom bunk which is unoccupied for 95% of the time is a serious waste of space.

This is where futon bunk beds come into play, because they allow your kids to watch television on the futon, but also utilize it as a bed for whenever their friends come round as play. When the children grow up, they're less and less likely to be inviting friends round and bunk beds bought purely for the purpose of sleepovers can soon become a hassle. That's not true in this case, because it's using space that otherwise would just be filled with a regular bed. This means that using the laptop or watching the television is much easier because there's somewhere proper to sit. Not only this, but it also means you don't need to use up more space in the room...

Bed Frame Risers

Bed Frame Risers

One of the things we notice in our homes is that as time passes by, it seems to shrink in size from the inside. This is because many people tend to accumulate certain things. This is why it is always a good way to sort out your things periodically, and get rid of those that are no longer needed. You can do that by selling or giving them away to friends and relatives. However, if you have a growing family, you will have no choice but to look for ways in making more storage space in your house. You actually do not have to build another room for this. All you need to have are the spaces under your beds. To be able to utilize them effectively though, you will need bed frame risers.

Bed frame risers are literally a "poor mans" answer to creating extra space in your home, specifically for additional storage, where at times it is not practical to have other storage systems, such as wardrobes, or furniture such as a chest of drawers. This may be for economical reasons, (furniture can be expensive), or it could simply be making better utilization of existing space in rooms where spare space is not abundant.

With these bed frame risers, you will be able to come up with extra storage space in your house. This works by lifting your beds vertically, making more room for storing certain things underneath it. There are many things you can store under your bed. One example is seasonal things, such as seasonal clothing you may use for specific seasons only. You can also store your Christmas decors under your bed, since you will only need them on that occasion. Moreover, you can also store you shoes, books, bed linens, and other items under your bed.

There are many kinds of bed risers you can choose from these days. This is because they are highly in demand due to the benefits they impart to their owners. In choosing the kind of bed risers though, you need to take note of the size of your bed. The bigger your bed is, the sturdier your bed riser should be. For example, if you have a King or Queen Size bed, make sure that you will also have two center support legs. This will ensure that your bed will be carried effectively. Such kinds of bed risers are usually the sturdy metal type.
