Canopy Beds

Canopy beds are not just for royalties or rich people. You can have a canopy bed in your bedroom and you don't even have to spend a fortune. Instead of purchasing expensive canopy beds, you can put your imagination to use and create your own according to your taste and budget.

If you don't have a poster bed and you want to have a canopy bed, you can use shower curtains and hang them on the ceiling. You can place one just above the bed, one at the center, and another one above the foot of the bed. It should be perpendicular to the bed and parallel to each other. To add the finishing touches, you can use a long fabric that would cascade from the head to the foot of the bed. This will make a simple yet elegant bed canopy. If you want a full canopy with a modern design, instead of three rods, you can use four rods and place them above each side of the bed. You can use decorative hooks similar to the ones used for shower curtains to keep the fabrics from falling out.

You can also use this method to create a traditional full canopy. Instead of using shower rods, you can use wood strips to frame the shape of the bed. To give it a more professional look, use heavy curtains on the outside and sheer fabric on the inside. Use a valance around the bed to add to the appeal. Since you are using more than one fabric, you have to make sure that they are securely fastened to the wooden strips to keep them from falling. Add a trim to give it an extra pizzazz and use accessories such as tie backs, rings, or clips.

One of the best things about making your own bed canopies is that they can easily be removed when you are remodeling and no longer want a canopy.

Futon Bunk Beds

 

When bunk beds emerged they were very simply two smaller beds on top of each other primarily designed for small children. Since then the whole industry has changed, and although you can of course find your traditional two tier bunk beds a new generation has also emerged.
